Trapani Salt Flats

The Trapani Salt Beds (Flats) are located in the marshes on the outskirts of the Italian city of Trapani. The beds are found near the Mediterranean Sea on the western coast of the island of Sicily. It is definitely worth the visit. These are some of Europe's oldest salt deposits. The salt flats have existed since ancient times and were used by the Greeks and Romans. They are easy to visit today since they are located near the cities of Marsala and Trapani - famous for their seafood and wines. You can also take a boat trip to the nearby historic island of Mozia, which was an important shipping center settled by the Phoenicians. Both are enjoyable and easy to access. It is a great day trip.
