Two Tyrrhenian Gems
/Two of my absolute favorite sites to photograph in southern Italy are Paestum and Velia.
PAESTUM...
The temple complex at Paestum is located south of Naples along the Tyrrhenian coast of southern Italy in the region of Campania. The ancient Greek temple at Paestum is a gem to shoot, especially in the springtime. The landscape is rich in color with a combination of the freshly bloomed flowers, nice green vegetation, and the giant stone pillars against the blue sky. Lots to explore and shoot at this historic site.

VELIA...
Another wonderful place to visit in southern Italy is the ancient Greek town of Velia. We knew nothing about this place until we saw a description in a book on Greek sites in Italy. As we drove into the valley from the north, we got our first glimpse of the tower. It was really all we noticed in the distance until we reached the site. The tower sits atop a hill and overlooks the surrounding area and town of Velia. The area is a quite scenic part of the region of Campania. For those who chose to visit and explore this ancient site, it is rather expansive so make sure you have plenty of time to wander the grounds.
